WebSep 14, 2024 · Aegina is the island everyone visits because of Proximity to Athens. For minimal price, I went on a Kapogiannis Day tour of the entire island, on a wonderfully comfortable bus. This travel took place in June, prior to the 2024 Covid-19 Pandemic. WebAegina has a long history, dating from the Neolithic (4th millennium BC) to the later years. The high points in its history were the period if its great prosperity (657-459 BC) and the short period when it was proclaimed first capital and home of governor Ioannis Kapodistrias.
